Medical Dermatology in San Diego, CA
General Dermatology – including, but not limited to, full body skin exams, care for medical skin conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis and many others.
Dermatologists are specially trained to diagnose and manage treatment of the diseases of the skin, hair and nails in patients of all ages. This includes newborns to the elderly. Common conditions among children include birthmarks and moles, eczema, rashes/dermatitis, warts/ molluscum and acne. In adults we treat a broad range of medical conditions such as acne, rosacea, melasma, eczema/dermatitis, allergies, seborrhea, psoriasis, shingles, pre-cancers (actinic keratoses and dysplastic moles) and skin cancers (basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma).
Full body skin exams are an essential tool for screening patients for precancerous and cancerous lesions that may occur. Our dermatologists inspect the skin for any suspicious growths from head to toe and back to front. This provides a quick and painless detection of skin cancer as well as many other dermatologic conditions. Our goal is to improve the rate of cure of most types of skin cancers and we believe that routine skin cancer screening is integral to the early detection process.
We also place emphasis on more cosmetic concerns including disorders of pigmentation (solar lentigines/sunspots), telangiectasia (broken capillaries) and aging skin/wrinkles. As our skin ages, it becomes less supple, losing fat and elasticity with breakdown of collagen. It becomes drier and starts to sag, forming wrinkles. New benign lesions start to form such as seborrheic keratoses and cherry angiomas. Years of sun exposure accelerates this aging process and induces the formation of sun spots (lentigines), the breakdown of superficial capillaries (telangiectasia) and contributes to easy bruising. Our office treats these signs and symptoms of aging skin with a variety of options including Botox/Dysport, Fillers, laser rejuvenation and chemical peels. Our doctors tailor our treatments to the specific needs of each and every patient.
